10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the inception of Tutu Du Monde. Inspired by her daughter Alyna, and the desire to create something new and different in a market lacking beautiful tutu dresses, Founder and Creative Director, Andrea Rembeck explains the essence of Tutu
Du Monde and the inspiration behind the It’s My Birthday Collection.

How do you stay inspired and focused?

I try and have balance in my life which is a lot easier said than done especially when you
juggle a fast-growing business and family life. It’s easy to lose sight of the big picture
sometimes when a lot is happening. As for inspiration, I get most inspired when I’m
travelling, removed from the everyday office life. It seems as soon as I get on a plane, I
remove myself from the day to day routine and ideas come flooding in.

How did Tutu Du Monde come to life?

Tutu du Monde began with my quest for a ‘ballerina dress’ for my own little daughter – a then four-year-old fussy dresser! Faced with market offerings of uninspired and uninspiring mass-produced, pink polyester, I instinctively drew on my own design aesthetic and experience and decided to create my own tutus. Thus, the brand was born and formally
launched in 2009. What I initially considered a ‘side-project’ soon took over my life.

FEMME COLLECTION 19

For over ten years, Tutu du Monde has been the ultimate destination for beautiful and whimsical girls’ tutu dresses. This year, after countless requests and with growing demand from loyal Tutu du Monde fans, we have turned our attention to the creation of our Femme collection. Ethereal, romantic, and ultra-feminine, each piece is an expression of Tutu du Monde and our dedication to design, authenticity, craftsmanship and quality… all grown up!

It was very important to us that this collection was still a reflection of who we are as a brand, and each piece was thoughtfully designed by our Sydney-based team with this in mind. From conception, it took 18 months to put the collection together; from those first ideas and sketches, to the styles eventually becoming available for purchase.
